An Autism Diary

A day in the life of David Hartley

Injuries, Beads, and a Surprise Helper :)

Lately I have been more crippled than usual due to some dislocations and subluxations that happened in very unhelpful places.  Since I can’t get them back in on my own and haven’t been able to get approved for a doctor appointment to the specialist that can fix me without making me worse (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome complicates even the “simple” things like doctor appointments), I have been having to live with it for over a few months now.  Lately this has meant doing a lot of taking it as easy as possible and doing even more sitting.  Uggh I hate that. lol  I get way to bored and the boys never take a break from being hyper little whirlwinds just because mom is down for the count. 😉

I did finally find a replacement loom though so that I could get back to beading my bracelets again which I not only missed doing, but also had some promised projects I was never able to fulfill due to sudden loss of supplies.  Since I’ve been sitting even more than usual these last few days I got out the beads and have gotten a few bracelets done.  Just as I was working up my skills and confidence to try to tackle the official DogForDavid bracelet again (a bit complicated to make) David decided it was time to take his hyperness on the road so to speak and climbed up the couch and then swung his leg over my shoulder, successfully spilling handfuls of beads down into the couch, all over me, and across the floor.  *face palm*

The good news though is that he was actually connecting enough tonight, in spite his fidgeting and extra energy, that he picked up right away on the stress and that I needed help and started gathering up those tiny little seed beads from the floor and underneath the couch for me.  I am so grateful to have such a good little helper at my side.  His sweetness just adds icing to the cake. 😉 : )  Now, if only I could figure out how to get him to be this helpful on demand??  Maybe my house wouldn’t get torn apart on a regular basis. haha 😉 : )
