An Autism Diary

A day in the life of David Hartley

Music and Santa

We’ve had a busy day today. Both boys are finally on the mend and doing much better and David had his first guitar lesson today. Also, We saw a sign saying that Santa Paws (Santa’s best friend/Golden Retriever) was going to be visiting at near by pet shop so we headed out there after David’s music lesson. Turned out the shop was just trying to be cute with playing with words and didn’t know about the Golden Retriever so Santa Paws was not actually there.

Santa Clause was there though to take pictures with people’s pets and when he found out about the boys, he took time to have a special moment with them. When asked why Santa Paws didn’t show (the boys were sooo looking forward to meeting Paws) Santa and his team had a great answer. Santa Paws was back home taking care of his puppies. lol ^_^ That answer worked for the boys enough that they started smiling again. 🙂 Below is the photo they took for us. They gave it to us free which I thought was really kind. To be honest, they were really kind about the whole thing. 🙂

David chose to learn "Jingle Bells" as his first song so he can play it for grandma :)

In between his short bouts of actually paying attention to his teacher, David would break out into random "rock" moments singing "David rocks!" over and over while strumming his guitar and pretending to be a rock star. lol ^_^

The boys with Santa today. They were pretty excited to hear Santa's dog, Santa Paws, had puppies so they forgave Santa for not bringing his dog with him today for that. lol :)
